Zekelman Industries’ History

Zekelman Industries’ history of delivering successful solutions reaches back more than 135 years. Decade after decade, we’ve remained committed to our customers and end users. This focus has helped us stay strong for more than a century, and it has helped us grow to be the largest independent steel pipe and tube manufacturer in North America.

Founded as the John Maneely Company (JMC) in 1877, Zekelman Industries started as a distributor of pipe, valves and fittings in Philadelphia, PA, and grew into one of the largest independent steel pipe and tube distributors on the East Coast. Today, Zekelman Industries (and its subsidiaries) is the most trusted and comprehensive resource for structural and application-specific tubular steel products and solutions.

We are proud to be the largest independent manufacturer of tubular products in North America, producing more than 2.5 million tons of tubular products a year in our 15 manufacturing facilities. With a thorough understanding of our customer’s businesses and markets, we enable wholesalers, distributors, fabricators, original equipment manufacturers, contractors and design/build engineering companies to manage inventory, reduce supply chain costs, and meet their customer’s needs.

As proud as we are of our heritage, we are dedicated today to delivering customer needs tomorrow. We have the financial strength to continuously improve our facilities. We have the 1,600 people of Zekelman Industries determined to give our customers quality products and exemplary service in the century ahead.

Our continued investments in facilities, systems and people give us the strength to deliver, both in robust markets and in ever-changing times.
