Over the past couple of weeks, the Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) markets have started showing positive signs:  the rig count has apparently reached bottom, inventory levels appear to be in better shape, and import shipments seem to be declining.

On Thursday, April 16, 2015, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and House Ways and Means Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) introduced bipartisan, bicameral Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) legislation – The Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities and Accountability Act of 2015 – to Congress.

Are Free Trade Agreements Fair to Domestic Manufacturing Companies?

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, “Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) have proved to be one of the best ways to open up foreign markets to U.S. exporters.” FTAs reduce trade barriers for U.S. exports and they “protect U.S. interests and enhance the rule of law in the FTA partner country.” Essentially, this makes it easier and cheaper for U.S. companies to export their goods to U.S. trading partners.
